Off at the deep end
Article Abstract:
UK nursing course Project 2000 is coming under review from within the nursing profession and from the general press. The first Project 2000 course began in 1990. Reactions to Project 2000 nurses include a general perception of poor basic skills and the feeling by managers that nurses should be given only short-term jobs for assessment purposes. The criticisms may be unfair, as both the health service and the patients have also changed during the seven year period, but the UKCC is undertaking a major review of Project 2000 which will report in 1998.
