Oil shale processing as a source of aquatic pollution: monitoring of biologic effects in caged and feral freshwater fish
Article Abstract:
Research presented concerns the biological impact of the petroleum industry in Estonia on fish in nearby rivers, in particular caged rainbow trout, feral perch and roach. Results from the polluted areas reveal a small biological effect on the fish, such as increased enzyme activities in the liver, and the elevated levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons do not seem to be negatively impacting the fish.

A comparison of the reproductive physiology of largemouth bass, Micropterus salmoides, collected from the Escambia and Blackwater Rivers in Florida
Article Abstract:
Research presented concerns the effects of water pollution on largemouth bass reproductive physiology in the Escambia and Blackwater Rivers in Florida. Fish from both rivers were tested for testosterone and endocrine disrupting chemicals, and a measurable difference in reproductive physiology was found in the bass living in polluted waters.
