Outpatient treatment of recent-onset atrial fibrillation with the "Pill-in-the-pocket" approach
Article Abstract:
An attempt is made to assess the feasibility and the safety of self-administered oral loading of flecainide and propafenone in terminating atrial fibrillation of recent onset outside the hospital. The findings indicate that risk-stratified population of patients with recurrent atrial fibrillation, pill-in-the-pocket treatment is feasible and safe with a high rate of compliance by patients.

Atrial fibrillation
Article Abstract:
The causes, electrophysiologic features, diagnosis, and treatment of atrial fibrillation are reviewed. Atrial fibrillation occurs when the upper part of the heart begins beating very rapidly. Treatments include anti-arrhythmic drugs, anticoagulants, defibrillation, ablation of the atrioventricular node and pacemaker implantation, and implantable atrial defibrillators.

Minimizing ventrical pacing to reduce atrial fibrillation in sinus-node disease
Article Abstract:
The hypothesis that patients with sinus-node disease requiring permanent pacing devices reduce the risk of persistent atrial fibrillation was tested. Results concluded that the dual-chamber minimal ventricular pacing prevents ventricular desynchronization and moderately reduces the risk of persistent atrial fibrillation.
