Planned cesarean versus planned vaginal delivery at term: Comparison of newborn infant outcomes
Article Abstract:
A study that compares outcomes of newborn infants during a planned cesarean as against a planned vaginal delivery is illustrated. The findings proved that planned cesarean deliveries resulted in a 2-fold higher risk for pulmonary disorders for the infants, thereby increasing the workload and costs in neonatal units because of higher transfer rate to the neonatal intensive care unit as compared to planned vaginal deliveries.

Complications of cesarean deliveries: rates and risk factors
Article Abstract:
A population-based study of 2751 cesarean deliveries is done to determine the complication rates after cesarean delivery and identification of independent factors for complications. Cesarean delivery is associated with high complication rate and increase in cervical dilation during the operation, general anesthesia, low gestational age and fetal macrosomia are the independent risk factors identified.
