A role for fibronectin in self-repair after ischemic injury
Article Abstract:
The role of fibronectin in healing wounds and in preventing neural cell death after a stroke are examined. Topics include the history of research on fibronectin; its classification as cellular or plasma fibronectin; studies that showed mice lacking plasma fibronectin still healed wounds normally; and issues biologists need to study in the future to discover how fibronectin may be delivered to prevent neural death in stroke victims.

Plasma fibronectin supports neuronal survival and reduces brain injury following transient focal cerebral ischemia but is not essential for skin-wound healing and hemostasis
Article Abstract:
The role of plasma fibronectins in tissue repair are examined. Results indicate that mice deficient in plasma fibronectin demonstrate neuronal apoptosis after cerebral ischemia and that plasman fibronectins are not essential for hemostasis and healing skin wounds.

Clusterin contributes to caspase-3-independent brain injury following neonatal hypoxia-ischemia
Article Abstract:
Issues related to the relationship between the glycoprotein clusterin, also known as apolipoprotein J, and neuronal death in the brain are examined. An experiment measures brain injury following an instance of hypoxia-ischemia in mice, concentrating on caspase-3 activation and the presence or absence of clusterin, and concludes clusterin may be a target in developing therapies related to neuronal death.
