Predicting death as outcome in intensive care
Article Abstract:
The Riyadh Intensive Care Program algorithm is a dynamic scoring system based on daily organ failure scores, and it is aimed at predicting death as the outcome in intensive care. The prediction of death is important to avoid futile treatment which can be costly, and which can extend the suffering for the patient and relatives. The system was found to have a false positive diagnosis rate of 4.6%.
