Predictors of occult neoplasia in women undergoing risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy
Article Abstract:
Ten percent of ovarian cancers occur due to an inherited cancer disposition, most commonly due to an inherited mutation in the breast cancer susceptibility genes 1 or 2 (BRCA1/BRCA2). Risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy (RRSO) is a highly effective cancer prevention strategy that reduces the risk of ovarian, tubal, and peritoneal cancers by approximately 96%.

Tumor-specific p53 sequences in blood and peritoneal fluid of women with epithelial ovarian cancer
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to test whether tumor-specific mutated p53 DNA can be detected in blood and peritoneal fluid of women with epithelial ovarian cancer. It is found that one third of women with ovarian cancer have circulating tumor DNA and an associated reduced survival while free tumor DNA can be detected in the majority of peritoneal fluid samples.
