Preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV in Western Kenya: Operational Issues
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to improve uptake in a program to prevent mother-to-child HIV transmission and to present lessons relevant for prevention of mother-to-child transmission program in resource-poor settings. The study indicates that addressing institutional factors can improve uptake, but expected program impact remains low for several reasons, including relatively low efficiency of the intervention.

Prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV in Thailand: physicians' attitudes on zidovudine use, pregnancy termination, and willingness to provide care
Article Abstract:
Many obstetricians in Thailand do not want to care for HIV-infected pregnant women, do not give them zidovudine to prevent viral transmission to the baby, and recommend abortion for many of these women. This indicates that doctors in Thailand need to be educated about the importance of HIV testing and zidovudine use.
