Viral hepatitis in HIV infection
Article Abstract:
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and Hepatitis C (HCV) virus infections are commonly found among patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection because of shared routes of viral transmission. However, new therapies for both HCV and HBV infections are increasing the opportunities to manage the infections and potentially prevent complications of liver disease in HIV-infected persons.

Variant of hepatitis B virus with primary resistance to adefovir
Article Abstract:
Three cases of primary adefovir (a reverse transcriptase inhibitor used in the treatment of hepatitis B virus) resistance that were sensitive to tenofovir are described. All three cases involved a rare hepatitis B virus (HBV) variant which displayed resistance to adefovir and sensitivity to tenofovir in vitro.
