Prophylaxis of allergic disease - is it worthwhile?
Article Abstract:
Prevention of the development of food allergies lessens health care costs considerably. Factors that lead to the development of such allergies appear to be of a wide range, from genetic to environmental. These include environmental allergens, dietary factors, industrial pollution and family predisposition. Results of a study in infant allergy prevention through reduction of allergen exposure indicate that the intervention reduces atopy.
