Counseling children and adolescents on safety
Article Abstract:
More children are killed in the US by injuries than any other cause. Approximately 20,000 children die each year from injuries, 600,000 are hospitalized, and 16 mil visit emergency rooms. Most injuries to children are preventable, and age-appropriate counseling is a highly effective technique. Basic safety counseling includes teaching parents cardiopulmonary resuscitation, how to be positive role models, and basic prevention and first aid. Children need to be taught how to dial 911.
