Quantitative analyses of sacroiliac biopsies in spondyloarthropathies: T cells and macrophages predominate in early and active sacroiliitis
Article Abstract:
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be used to detect the appearance of T cells and macrophages in the sacroiliac joint. This may be an early sign of an inflammation of the sacroiliac joint, which is common in a group of diseases that affect the spine. These diseases are called spondyloarthropathies.

Anti-TNFalpha: a new dimension in the pharmacotherapy of the spondyloarthropathies?
Article Abstract:
Drugs or monoclonal antibodies that block the activity of tumor necrosis factor alpha may be the first effective treatment for arthritic diseases of the spine. However, long-term studies are needed to determine potential side effects and smaller doses may be less expensive.
