Randomized controlled trial assessing the effect of vitamin A supplementation on maternal morbidity during pregnancy and postpartum among HIV-infected women
Article Abstract:
Vitamin A supplements had no significant benefit when given to 312 HIV-infected pregnant women in Durban, South Africa. Vitamin A deficiency increases susceptibility to infection in animals and humans.

Cell-free virus in breast milk of HIV-1-seropositive women
Article Abstract:
HIV-infected women may have enough virus in their breast milk to transmit the virus to their baby. In a study of 79 HIV-infected women, the greater the amount of virus in breast milk, the greater the chance of transmitting the virus to the baby.

Preventing postnatal transmission of HIV-1 through Breast-feeding: Modifying infant feeding practices
Article Abstract:
The various ways to prevent the risk of postnatal transmission through Brest-feeding are discussed. Various clinical trials are examined for the assessing rates and risk factors for mother-to-child transmission.
