Reduction of sympathetic hyperactivity by enalapril in patients with chronic renal failure
Article Abstract:
ACE inhibitors may lower the risk of heart disease in patients with kidney failure by reducing the activity of the sympathetic nervous system. Increased sympathetic nerve activity can cause high blood pressure. Researchers directly measured sympathetic nerve activity in the muscles of 14 patients with hypertension, kidney failure and increased sympathetic nerve activity before and after they received the ACE inhibitor enalapril. Enalapril lowered blood pressure and also reduced sympathetic nerve activity.

Effect of growth hormone treatment on adult height of children with idiopathic short stature
Article Abstract:
Treating short children with growth hormone for long periods of time will cause them to grow slightly taller than children of normal height. Researchers followed 121 short children who were treated with growth hormone for 2 to 10 years. Eighty achieved an adult height and were about 3.5 inches taller on average than children who were not treated. They were also an average of 2 inches taller than children of normal height.

Effect of growth hormone treatment on the adult height of children with chronic renal failure
Article Abstract:
Growth hormone treatment of short children with chronic kidney problems appears to stimulate growth and lead to normal adult height, according to a study of 38 children of pre-puberty age. The mean final heights were 1.6 and 2.1 cm below normal adult height in hormone-treated and untreated children respectively.
