Regulation of vascular endothelial growth factor-dependent retinal neovascularization by insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor
Article Abstract:
A chemical that blocks the insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) receptor prevents retinal angiogenesis. This demonstrates that IGF-1 regulates the production of vascular endothelial growth factor. It also explains why insulin therapy initially increases diabetic retinopathy.

Directed vascular expression of the thromboxane A(sub)2 receptor results in intrauterine growth retardation
Article Abstract:
Increased thromboxane A(sub)2 synthesis may be responsible for intrauterine growth retardation. In a mouse model, overexpression of the thromboxane A(sub)2 receptor caused intrauterine growth retardation. Smoking and diabetes both increase thromboxane A(sub)2 biosynthesis.

The axis of interleukin 12 and gamma interferon regulates acute vascular xenogeneic rejection
Article Abstract:
Interleukin-12 and gamma interferon are involved in immunological tolerance of a foreign graft, according to a study in mice. Mice with deficient levels rejected a graft faster, as did those with defective B-cell development.
