Repetitive strains still plague European meat industry
Article Abstract:
Repetitive strain injuries are high in the European meat-processing industry based on a report by the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions. Workers in deboning lines and slaughterhouses work and carry carcasses at certain speeds in production lines causing lower back, shoulder and wrist disorders. Vincent Wall, a senior health inspector at the Republic of Ireland, suggest automation, adoption of good ergonomic workplace design and employee rotation to reduce the risk of repetitive strain injuries.

Skin cancer toll climbs 'down under'
Article Abstract:
Skin-cancer-related deaths are taking their toll in Australia despite government efforts to curb the incidence. Australians are sun-lovers who tend to ignore the harmful effects of the sun's ultraviolet rays. A report from the state's occupational and health agency, Work Cover of New South Wales, showed an annual rate of about 1,200 Australians dying of skin cancer. Government concern resulted to legislations requiring employers to abide with specific guidelines governing workplace and workers safety.
