Reproductive Medicine Experts Till an Increasingly Fertile Field
Article Abstract:
Research in reproductive medicine is addressing the reasons some women cannot successfully conceive and sustain a pregnancy. Internationally, different health, cultural and economic factors influence infertility rates. Insurance coverage for infertility treatment may reduce the risk of multiple births in treated patients. Rapid freezing techniques will improve the preservation of embryos and eggs, possibly reducing the need for fertility drugs. Cytoplasm transfer could support genetically viable eggs in some infertile women. Infertile men may have a higher rate of chromosomal abnormalities in their sperm than fertile men. Testing these patients before intracytoplasmic sperm injection may prevent pregnancies with abnormal embryos.
