Researchers focus on alternatives for diagnosing heart disease in women
Article Abstract:
The Women's Ischemia Syndrome Evaluation (WISE) study funded by the US National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute has come with new diagnostic tools for detecting heart disease in women, which are on the verge of adoption for clinical practice. Adenosine cardiac magnetic resonance imaging test and fingertip probe which measures blood flow to the fingertip are the new tools which can be used in addition to the standard stress test for successful detection of heart disease in women.

Biomarkers for coronary heart disease: Predictive value or background noise?
Article Abstract:
The emergence of numerous biomarkers for cardiovascular disease is expected to, enable physicians to better assign risk and treat patients, and increase the accuracy of risk assessment of coronary heart disease through distilled understanding of biomarkers. Biomarkers for inflammation, hemostasis, thrombosis, fibrinolysis, altered lipids, and oxidative stress are evaluated as potential clinical tools for improving risk prediction.
