Second HSC researcher sends anonymous 'Olivieri' note

A second faculty member at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children has sent an anonymous e-mail criticizing Nancy Olivieri for allegedly tarnishing the hospital's name and reputation. Olivieri tested a drug for thalassemia and found that it was ineffective, dividing the faculty members into opposing camps.

Lassa fever is unheralded problem in West Africa
Article Abstract:
A lack of understanding of the biology of the Lassa virus is preventing its containment in war-torn Sierra Leone, the hyperendemic center of the disease. The disease is extremely rare in western countries, thus only limited scientific research has gone into developing a treatment for the condition.
