Secondary hypertension: High blood pressure with a specific cause

Secondary hypertension, a form of high blood pressure caused by another condition, is much less common and affects a small percentage of people and it usually comes on relatively quickly, causing higher blood pressure than does essential hypertension. Some signs and symptoms that come on abruptly may include heart palpitations, profuse sweating, severe headache and extreme fright or anxiety.
