Short-stretch compression bandaging for lymphoedema
Article Abstract:
Lymphoedema is caused by an overloading of the lymphatic system which can lead to several swelling in certain parts of the body, such as legs. Sufferers can also develop severe skin conditions, such as dermatitis and leg ulcers, which in turn can lead to infection. Short-stretch compression bandaging increases interstitial pressure which reduces filtration of the blood capillaries. Such bandages are an important part of managing patients with lympheodema although the process can take quite a long time.
