The nurse's role in screening for diabetic retinopathy

An opthalmics screening programme which is undertaken by nurses and was set up by the practice team of a North London general practitioner, England, is discussed. The programme aims to provide care for patients with diabetic retinopathy.

A vicious circle: visual impairment in people with learning disabilities

People with learning disabilities often have low self-esteem, but this can be made worse when they also have visual problems. Advice for nurses in dealing with such patients and helping them regain confidence is presented.
