DOTS: a breakthrough in TB control
Article Abstract:
The World Health Organization suggests using the Directly Observed Treatment, Short-course (DOTS) strategy for detecting and treating tuberculosis (TB). DOTS involves five crucial interconnected steps, including detection, having powerful anti-TB medication, observing the patient, tracking the progress of the treatment, and financial and political commitment. The strategy is of particular importance as more strains of TB are drug resistant.
