Article Abstract:
Nurses are generally held in high regard by ordinary people and politicians in the UK. However, this does not mean that their salary reflects their status. In many cases, nurses find it extremely difficult to live on their salary. Most manage to avoid serious debt, but independent advice service Nurseline reports that around 10% of the 400 calls it receives each month relate to money problems. Nursing groups of particular concern include those who have been qualified for two or three years but are still paying off debts from their time as a student.

Article Abstract:
It is possible that the year 2000 computer date change will create long-term difficulties for the UK National Health Service (NHS). Information technology experts believe that fewer than 1% of NHS trusts have made financial provision for the year 2000 changes, with the government having made no commitment to make extra funding available. It is possible that there will be between 600 and 1,500 deaths among NHS patients attributable to the year 200 date change in Jan 2000.
