Strategies used by human immunodeficiency virus that allow persistent viral replication
Article Abstract:
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) has certain strategies that that allow persistent viral replication. Properties that make it possible for the virus to overcome ongoing immune responses and that put up huge obstacles to those who seek to control it over the long term are discussed. Topics include integration, emergence of antigenic variants, destruction of CD4 helper cell activity, accessibility of envelope protein on virions, and downregulation of MHC

Antiretroviral treatment for HIV infection in developing countries: an attainable new paradigm
Article Abstract:
Distribution of antiretroviral drugs (ARVs) in developing countries is a rational investment choice in resource-limiting settings. The merits of facilitating ARV access to middle- and low-income countries are commented.

Effects of mycophenolic acid on human immunodeficiency virus infection in vitro and in vivo
Article Abstract:
Research presented suggests mycophenolic acid (MPA) may be used to inhibit the replication of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Research shows MPA induces apoptosis or cell death in activated CD4 T lymphocytes.
