The shape of things to come
Article Abstract:
Many nurses can participate in the policy process for health and nursing in the UK, but they need to have an understanding of the policy process to determine their actions. Nurses wanting to develop an idea into a policy-changing issue, need to first identify the most important issue, and be able to get their message across. Some issues may be ignored, as those responsible for policy development may not consider them important. It is therefore important to back up such issues by networking with people and organisations who have knowledge of the subject.

The American way of ill health
Article Abstract:
There is a mistaken belief that the US is a land of plenty, with freedom of choice for all. However, the debate over the health-care system has awakened awareness that it is unfair and inefficient. Attempts by president Bill Clinton to reform the system ended in failure, with businesses not prepared to spend more on employment-based health insurance schemes. The pending election may force voters to examine why a country that spends so much on health-care has one of the worst health records in the world.
