Call for work stress code
Article Abstract:
The UK Trades Union Congress (TUC) is seeking the introduction of an Approved Code of Practice to encourage all employers to place more emphasis on the impact of stress on employees. The TUC believes that a government-controlled code would significantly reduce the impact of occupational stress, which currently causes the loss of around 6 million working days a year, at a cost of 5 billion pounds sterling. TUC research indicates that occupational stress is most frequently caused by excessive workloads.

Stress: a guide for organisations
Article Abstract:
Stress in the workplace can cause both negative and positive reactions, and in some companies it is endemic. Stress is a topical issue, due to the recession causing mass redundancies, increased use of technology, increased working hours and the fear of unemployment. The prevention and management of workplace stress relies on good management, training and support.
