Stressed and depressed
Article Abstract:
A targeted disruption of the glucocorticoid receptor in the forebrain of mice leads to behavioral and neuroendocrine changes that are parallel to human depression, and these changes develop over the course of the animal's life and are reversible by the classical antidepressant imipramine. The direct use of drugs that block the stress system represents a new avenue for the treatment of types of depression that are resistant to classic antidepressants.

Stat3 is required for ALK-mediated lymphomagenesis and provides a possible therapeutic target
Article Abstract:
Stat3 requirements for cellular transformation and/or tumor maintenance in Nucleophosmin anaplastic lymphoma kinase (NPM-ALK) mediated tumorigenesis in vivo are investigated using a molecular genetic approach. The findings show a growth-promoting role for Stat3 in these neoplasms and suggest the potential efficacy of Stat3-targeted therapeutic modalities.
