Surgery for genitourinary prolapse and stress incontinence: a randomized trial of posterior pubourethral ligament plication and Pereyra suspension
Article Abstract:
Pereyra suspension may be superior to posterior pubourethral ligament plication in surgically treating genitourinary prolapse and stress incontinence. Researchers compared the effectiveness of the two surgical procedures in 109 patients with actual or potential stress incontinence caused by descent of the bladder into the vagina. Patients who underwent the Pereyra procedure and attachment of the bladder to the abdominal wall experienced an improvement in incontinence rates after surgery but a higher number of complications than did patients who underwent posterior pubourethral ligament plication. The Pereyra needle suspension technique is preferred.

The distance between the perceived and the actual arcus tendineus fascia pelvis during vaginal paravaginal repair
Article Abstract:
The study aims to determine whether the arcus tendineus fascia pelvis (ATFP) could be accurately identified from the paravaginal space (PVS) without entering the retroubic space (RPS). The degree or error increases as the ischial spine is approached.
