Take the medical model out of the menopause
Article Abstract:
There needs to be a less clinical attitude towards the menopause, which is not an illness. There needs to be greater knowledge of the experiences of middle-aged women, with a view to better management of the menopause in a menopause clinic, as the menopause affects different women in different ways. A study of a community group run by women and a menopause clinic run by nurses indicates that women and nurses can decide what services a specialist environment can provide.
