Article Abstract:
Response to emotional stress can be modified by engaging different personality factors. The University of York's Department of Psychology has developed a series of stress management programmes called 'The Challenge of Change', which are based on the assumption that stress can be caused by uncontrolled change. Research shows that the impact of stress is less if it is governed by internal factors rather than external ones, over which individuals feel that they have no control.
