Taking school nursing into the community
Article Abstract:
A project designed to provide school health services in the Middlesbrough, England, education action zone will run in the five secondary schools in the zone. There will be a dedicated nurse in each school, and emphasis will be placed on taking a proactive, targeted approach to health matters regarded as particularly relevant by secondary school pupils. The nurses will develop initiatives from a range of topics connected with the requirements of young people, including parenting skills, mental health support and ethnic minority needs. As a team, they will provide support packages for pupils, parents/carers and teachers.
