Thailand's battle against nutritional blindness
Article Abstract:
During the 1988-1991 period over 13 cases of nutritional blindness were reported in Thailand. This vitamin A deficiency disease has been attacked by an aggressive government program. It includes education, supplements at birth, the promotion of breast feeding, and vitamin A-rich foods.

Preventing nutritional blindness
Article Abstract:
Vitamin-A deficiency blindness can be prevented by simply giving young children adequate amounts of the vitamin. Yet xerophthalmia afflicts 2-3 million of the world's children each year. Other preventable blinding disease of the young are described. Sources of the vitamin are cited.

Preventing blindness in Zambia
Article Abstract:
Zambian health officials have begun an ambitious effort to rid the country of nutritional blindness by encouraging the production and consumption of foods rich in vitamin A. The Luapala Valley region, where cassava is the traditional crop, has been the focus of the effort.
