The Future of Physicians' Time
Article Abstract:
The author focuses on the demands being made on physicians' time. He points to the health care system which continues to reduce compensation by discounting payment for service. Additionally, the physician is faced with more administrative duties plus managerial ones. And of course, the patients need more time. The author points to the roles which physicians will need to fill in the future: clinical data collector, shaman, health advisor and wellness coach, knowledge navigator, proceduralist, diagnostician, physician manager, and quality assurance specialist, and says that physicians will need to redefine these roles and prioritize their expenditures of time.

Dimension of Time in Illness: An Objective View
Article Abstract:
The author presents his reasoning concerning the the essential need for recognizing the dimension of time when attempting to analyze clinical information. Not only does every clinical procedure demand that aspect as integral, but monitoring progress, therapeutic measures, and support all have that factor as a part of the structure of the procedure. He proposes an approach to integrating the two aspects of time -- temporal reasoning and temporal maintenance -- by use of a mediator, and gives examples of its use in several clinical procedures.
