The Will To Live among HIV-Infected Patients
Article Abstract:
Many HIV-infected patients have a strong will to live, and many feel that life with HIV is better than it was before they became infected. This was said in context of whether or not they would give up some of their life expectancy for a shorter but completely healthy life. Of 51 patients with HIV infection, when asked about life-satisfaction and other aspects, 49% considered their lives better than before infection, while 29% said it was worse. On average, the patients said they would not give up more than 5% of their remaining life expectancy to be completely healthy.

Nd:YAG laser irradiation of infected root canals in combination with microbiological examinations
Article Abstract:
Ng:YAG laser irradiation substantially reduces bacterial levels in the root canals of nonvital teeth, and may be a useful tool in endodontic treatment. Thirty people received standard mechanical preparation of their root canals. Bacterial cultures taken from the canals revealed streptococci in all participants and staphylococci in 15. Twenty people then received two applications of laser irradiation of the root canal over eight days, with microbiological examination in between. The laser treatment eliminated the bacteria in more than 50% of the cases.
