The advances in computer science, physics and chemistry, combined with a surge in funding from agencies such as the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) is leading to a number of new techniques. The increasing availability of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Computerized Tomography (CT) machines is driving a boom in imaging.

Nifty transport device doubles durability of donor organs

Diagnostic equipment named 'The LifePort' is introduced, which is a portable, fully automated system used to transport human kidneys for transplant surgeries. This equipment is considered to extend the donor kidney's lifespan by perfusing the organ continuously during transport.
