The bursary blues
Article Abstract:
UK student nurses have been suffering as a result of late payment of bursaries caused by a computer problem. Nurses have had problems paying bills and buying food. According to a spokesman from the Department of Health, the National Health Service Executive is collaborating with the Student Grant Unit to solve the problem, nurses in particular difficulty have received emergency payments, and almost all bursaries have now been paid.

The great petrol rip-off
Article Abstract:
Nurses unions are concerned community nurses and midwives are not receiving adequate recompense for the money they pay out for petrol whilst they are at work. Some nurses point out they have to wait two months before receiving their petrol payments.

Fury as UKCC confirms fees will rise to 60 pounds sterling
Article Abstract:
The decision made by the UKCC to increase the 3 year registration fees payable by nurses by 24-pounds sterling to 60-pounds sterling has angered nurses. The fees charged by the UKCC are used to fund the organization.
