Stability of cutaneous anergy in women with or at risk for HIV infection
Article Abstract:
The stability of cutaneous anergy is of interest in examining women who are HIV infected or at risk of infection. Cutaneous anergy is the measurable lack of normal inflammatory response of the skin to antigens. Women who are HIV-positive seem to test as anergic. Although they may later become more reactive in tests, the initial presence of cutaneous anergy suggests a greater probability of anergy when retesting takes place along with a lower CD4 count. HIV-positive women with low CD4 counts seem to have the most stable presence of anergy of any tested.

Predictors of hepatitis C virus RNA levels in a prospective cohort study of drug users
Article Abstract:
Time-dependent and time-independent predictors of hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA levels in 264 drug users with chronic HCV infection are studied. High levels of HCV RNA are associated with a poor response to treatment of chronic hepatitis C, and a substantial reduction in HCV RNA levels predicts a favorable treatment response.
