A 25-year-old man with hemopericardium, bilateral hemothorax, and hemoptysis after chest trauma
Article Abstract:
A 25-year-old man was diagnosed with a heart tumor called angiosarcoma that extended to his lungs after a heavy bale of newspapers crushed his chest. Following the incident, he had chest pain and difficulty breathing. After initially normal chest scans, the patient remained well except for occasional chest pain. Five months later, worsening symptoms required further examination and surgery to determine the cause of bleeding surrounding the heart. Imaging of the chest showed a mass near the heart, thought to be a blood clot from the injury. A biopsy revealed a malignant tumor. The patient died six weeks after the diagnostic procedure from kidney failure and progressive lung disease.
