Several suggestions are made to stay in balance with health, fitness and nutrition. The first is that athletic shoes should be replaced at regular intervals, before they have stopped providing cushioning and support. Shoes may be expected to last about 500 miles. Secondly, use antibacterial soaps only when someone is particularly vulnerable, as when recovering from an illness or operation. Daily use encourages bacteria resistance. Spices such as ginger, coriander and turmeric have powerful antioxidant effects and may hlep prevent cancer and heart disease.
