The myths of laparoscopic surgery
Article Abstract:
Several myths about laparoscopic surgery have arisen, including the notion that it's cheaper, that new technology is always better than old technology, that laparoscopic surgery always has the same outcome as general surgery, and that every gynecologist can learn to do it. All new technologies should be critically evaluated before they are widely adopted.

The effects of carbon dioxide pneumoperitoneum on seeding of tumor in port sites in a rat model
Article Abstract:
Laparoscopic surgery for cancer can cause tumor cells to spread to areas where the surgeons made incisions. This was confirmed in a study of rats, and pumping carbon dioxide into the abdomen increased the spread of cancer cells to incisions.
