The rise of in-store clinics--Threat or opportunity?
Article Abstract:
American consumers are pleased with the increasing prevalence of in-store clinics, where primary care is convenient and less expensive than that provided in a doctor's office, but physicians are worried about the quality of care and the potential impact on their practices. However, this model of primary care can be seen as a potential mechanism for managing a certain class of medical problems, serving a particular patient need and maximizing patient benefit with limited resources.

The therapeutic orientation to clinical trials
Article Abstract:
Doctors must try not to think of clinical trials as a form of therapy for individual patients. Clinical trials are done to investigate certain treatments that may or may not benefit future patients, not necessarily the patients participating in the trial. In fact, some of the patients may take a placebo, or inactive substance. The difference between a clinical trial and individualized medical care must be made clear to both participants and investigators.

The intimidation of American physicians: banning partial-birth abortion
Article Abstract:
The Supreme Court decision in Gonzales v. Carhart case, to uphold the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003 created an intimidating environment. Lacking confidence in the judicial system, physicians might choose to avoid performing second-trimester surgical abortions resulting in restricting access to them even if the mother's life is in jeopardy.
