HIV-associated parotid lymphoepithelial cyst: case report
Article Abstract:
Cystic swelling of the salivary glands is not unusual in patients infected with HIV. Proliferation of lymph tissues and an increase in the levels of circulating white blood cells causes the glands to swell. A 38-year-old woman developed a painless swelling of her parotid gland and associated lymph nodes. Parotid cysts may progress to lymphoma, so patient with this benign condition should be regularly evaluated. For cosmetic reasons, patients may desire surgical removal of the cyst.
