The use of complementary therapy in nursing practice
Article Abstract:
The use of complementary or alternative medicines (CAM) to supplement orthodox medicine is becoming more widely accepted. The reasons for the expansion of this area of practice and the risks and benefits of using CAM are discussed by understanding the ethical issues of efficacy, training, competence and patient safety related to its use.

Decannulation of patients with long-term tracheostomies
Article Abstract:
The reasons a tracheostomy decuffing protocol was developed in an acquired brain injury unit and the positive effect this has had on patient outcomes is described. Evidence shows that an individualized decuffing regimen has reduced the number of patients failing decannulation from 20% to two percent in the past few years.
