Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is commonly associated with varying degrees of breathlessness, cough and loss of exercise capacity that can play a significant role in limiting a patient's ability to carry out simple, day-to-day activities. The benefits and aims of pulmonary rehabilitation are outlined and the significance of its access to patients is explained.
