WHO meeting targets global concerns
Article Abstract:
SARS, HIV infection and AIDS, and the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control were the primary focus of the 56th World Health Assembly in May, 2003, in Geneva, Switzerland. It also marked the departure of Gro Harlem Brundtland as the director-general of the World Health Organization, to be replaced by Jong-Wook Lee. The Framework Convention on Tobacco Control would restrict tobacco advertising, increase tobacco taxes, and eliminate the illegal cigarette trade.
