Article Abstract:
An overview is presented on the growing scarcity of safe water supplies worldwide. Threats include contamination from various sources, such as urban runoff, pesticides and sewage; lack of access to water in arid and poverty-stricken communities; and the negative impact of global warming on aquatic communities, which alter water chemistry and can produce illness.

Acute gastrointestinal effects of graded levels of copper in drinking water
Article Abstract:
Acute gastrointestinal effects of consuming drinking water containing graded levels of copper was examined in this study. Although the subjects reported abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, most of the symptoms disappeared when their consumption of the drinking water was halted.

Infantile methemoglobinemia: reexamining the role of drinking water nitrates
Article Abstract:
Nitrate limits in drinking water may be unnecessarily strict. Research on causes of infantile methemoglobinemia suggest most cases are caused by gastrointestinal infection and inflammation rather than nitrate levels.
