We need a new policy on fetal tissue research
Article Abstract:
Research on fetal tissue transplantation, which promises possible treatment for several disease conditions, has been inhibited by political decisions about abortion. Fetal tissue's rapid growth and adaptability may make it suitable in treating diabetes, Parkinsonism, Alzheimer's disease and leukemia. The issues of fetal tissue research and abortion should remain separate, and a third party should handle procurement of fetal tissue for transplantation.

The quality of death
Article Abstract:
At the October 1996 meeting of the Association of Nursing Students, delegates were asked whether patients who want to die should be allowed to do so, but there was no vote on the motion. As front line health care professionals, nurses are well-placed to ensure that the practice of euthanasia can take place in a caring and regulated environment.

The 'right to die' isn't the same as the 'right to be killed.' (health care professionals should not be killers) (Column)
Article Abstract:
A patient's right to refuse life-sustaining treatment is widely accepted, but health care professionals should not help or allow non-terminal patients to kill themselves. To do so would undermine responsible medical care, and create the possibility of involuntary euthanasia for motives such as easing caretakers' financial burdens.
