What good are advanced practitioners if nobody at the top knows their value?
Article Abstract:
The difference in value between advanced practice practitioners and lower cost providers such as nursing assistants must be made clear to managers and others who look at the financial picture of managed care organizations. It is the responsibility of the advanced practitioners to make this difference known. The nursing management minimum data set can show the value difference in terms of verifiable data, allowing nursing data to be included in the record from which decisions are made.

Ethics and privacy in a technologically driven health care network
Article Abstract:
Information technology has been the driving force behind the restructuring of health care into networks, but the electronic sharing of medical information raises questions of ethics and privacy violation. Bryan Glastonbury and Walter LaMendola's book, 'The Integrity of Intelligence - A Bill of RIghts for the Information Age,' provides a code of ethics applicable to health care professionals and managers. The fifteen rights enumerated in the book are discussed.
