Physicians' groups should defend the interests of the profession against outside forces likely predatory hospitals and pharmaceutical associations rather than bicker amongst themselves in forming their different organizations. Individual physicians need to consider the possible advantages to joining physician organizations not only in terms of their profitability, but also with regard to how they are managed and the deliberative weight they ascribe to rank and file physicians in making decisions.
